Tambling Wildlife Nature Conservation, known as TWNC is a 45,000 hectare forest and 14,082 hectare marine conservation area located on the southern tip of Sumatra. The founder of TWNC is Tomy Winata, a prominent Indonesian businessman and philanthropist. Aside from his various businesses through the Artha Graha Network Group of Companies, Tomy is also known as the founder of the Artha Graha Peduli Foundation a nonprofit social organization. The AG Peduli Foundation programs and efforts have been implemented in TWNC are as follows: Reforestation Program, planting more than 10,000 trees that have been grown since 1998 covering variety types of endemic flora species such as Waru (Hibiscus tiliaceus), Bayur (Pterospermum javanicum) and Nyamplung (Calophyllum inophyllum). Protecting the forest, by assisting Indonesian Forest Patrols with additional personnel along with basic equipment. The role of AG Peduli Foundation's personnel not only guarding and protecting TWNC Conservation by hard-approach, but also through a soft approach, such as giving short training courses on the importance basic knowledge to the people and villagers surrounding TWNC. Critically Endangered Animal Rescue and Conservation Program, such as rescue of Sumatran Tigers, based on estimation of WWF/IUCN in 2010 its population in Sumatera only left around 300-400 tigers. In line with Sumatran Tigers rescue, AG Peduli Foundation and TWNC working closely with Phantera (an International Non Government Organization focusing in Big Cats) with carrying mission to rescue and protect as many as possible Sumatran Tigers. Since 1998, AG Peduli Foundation and TWNC have relocated at least eight Sumatran Tigers, and five of them have been released back to their habitat of the wild forest. In TWNC area there are around 30-40 Sumatran Tigers that sometimes captured by cameras trap. In year 2011, TWNC has witness the delivery of 3 cubs in "naturally birth" from the rescued Sumatran Tigers in rescued facility located in TWNC. Aside Sumatran Tigers, AG Peduli Foundation and TWNC also released other endangered animals including Trenggiling (Manis javanica) and sea turtles (Chelonioidea) to their respectively habitats. People Empowerment Program, to empower people/villagers surrounding TWNC to work along support in the AG Peduli Foundation's go-green activities in revitalizing the forest which has been severely deforested. Special Program to empower the ex-‐drug addicts / residents through a Post Drug Rehabilitation Program based in the conservation activities. This is a cooperation program between AG Peduli Foundation-TWNC and Indonesian Narcotics Bureau (BNN). The aim of Post Rehabilitation program is to reduce the percentage of relapse ex-drug users / residents and engage them to work together with AG Peduli Foundation's go-green activities in TWNC or other conservation areas. The program is blending drug-rehabilitation with nature of TWNC conservation, to encourage ex-users to re-establish their new lives and livelihoods through work and live in TWNC conservation and ecotourism program. This typical program was presented by Founder of Artha Graha Peduli, Tomy Winata, in UNODC (United Nation on Drugs and Crime) 2013 Annual Meeting in Vienna, Austria. UNODC's Executive Director, Yuri Fedotov gave highly appreciation to TWNC for its program, he strongly stated that UNODC will encourage other countries to visit Tambling and learn its model for post drug-rehabilitation program. Eco-Tourism Program, the eco‐tourism will be based on environment benefit by limiting the number of people visiting and provide environmentally friendly products and activities such as using biodegradable products and tree planting activities as its complementary program for the visitors . Nowadays, people can watch TWNC, its well managed condition of natural wild forest, complete of 'food of chain' indicated by there's no tigers conflict in TWNC, well protected and maintained marine sea conservation, and many other scenery can be found in TWNC. As proven, this condition has attracted more people, national and international institutions visit TWNC, among others UNESCO, IUCN, The World Bank, Phantera, UNODC, and also world famous persons. In 2012, the international diva, Kylie Minogue had visited Tambling during her tour in Indonesia. At least 15 Ambassadors from several foreign countries had visited TWNC during Krakatau Festival in 2009. The major media institutions represent from national, international and the foreign publication i.e. The New York Times, International Herald Tribunes, National Geographic, NHK, Reuters and CCTV-4, ever visited and covering their respectively TWNC journey to the world.
